NSN Lookup Announces Loss of Founder and Chairman
August 2nd, 2025NSN Lookup is saddened to announce the passing of its Founder and Chairman, David Nunn, at the age of 80. He died peacefully after a short illness.
David Nunn was a classically trained British engineer. He was well known as the inventor of advanced electronic control systems for large marine applications and inventor of the Concorde aircraft’s auto-compensating mechanical supersonic control system, both of which became key Military Technologies.
David was the pioneer in publishing supply chain data for the NATO industrial complex. He began with print publications and, in 1999, founded NSN Lookup — the first online system of its kind.
For over 25 years, David Nunn and NSN Lookup have supplied NATO members and their contractors with NSN Materiel, specializing in information technology products.
In recent years, David stepped back from daily operations, passing leadership to his eldest son, Jason Nunn, who has rapidly developed the company's design and manufacturing capabilites as well as re-incorporating in the USA. As Chairman, David led a team of experts developing generative and predictive AI services for the NATO Stock Number supply chain.
Thanks to his vision, NSN Lookup is now at the forefront of applying AI to the defense supply chain.
David Nunn will be fondly remembered by his family, friends, and colleagues for his genius, kindness, generosity, and sense of humor.

NSN Lookup Commissions Advanced Powertrain Dynomometer Facility
January 4th, 2025NSN Lookup is proud to announce the installation and commissioning of its first powertrain dynomometer, designed in collaboration with Frenelsa of Madrid, Spain. This state-of-the-art facility is rated at 8,000 Shaft Horsepower at speeds as low as 150 RPM and up to 4,200 RPM, setting a new benchmark for powertrain testing in the defense sector.
The new dyno utilizes cutting-edge Eddy Current Braking (Retarder) Technology, enabling precise and efficient load control during testing. Beyond standard performance testing, the facility can simulate real-world operating conditions, including vibration and 3-axis incline, to closely replicate the environment experienced by engines and transmissions in actual vehicles on the battlefield.
This advanced capability allows NSN Lookup not only to test production powertrains, but also to develop and validate improvements for powertrains that have experienced unexpected failures in service. The facility will play a key role in both quality assurance and ongoing product development, supporting customers with the most demanding requirements. NSN Lookup already provides a comprehensive range of in-house designed military powertrain upgrade products for the HMMWV, M113, M109, M60, M88 and other platforms for decreased service cost, and increased reliablity and performance.

AVDS-1790 Engine Contract Awarded
August 2nd, 2024NSN Lookup today announced that it has been awarded a $7.8M contract to remanufacture and upgrade AVDS-1790-2 Series Engines for the Royal Saudia Arabian Land Forces. The contract capitalizes on the reverse engineering of obsolete components that NSN Lookup has been investing in on the end-of-life M48 / M60 and M88 military vehicle platforms. Manufacturing many of the components in-house, NSN Lookup is able to provide a cost-effective solution to the Royal Saudia Arabian Land Forces. Jose Perez, NSN Lookup's Director of Powertrain Sales and Manufacturing, stated, "We are proud to have been selected by the Royal Saudia Arabian Land Forces and their representatives for this important contract. March 17th, 2024NSN Lookup today announced that it has been awarded a $1.9M contract by the Royal Saudia Arabian Land Forces for the supply of Engines for their M113A4 Fleet of Vehicles. The contract requires the reverse engineering and manufacturing of obsolete components of the engine to enable the manufacture of new engines. The contract is the first of its kind for NSN Lookup and is a major step forward in the company's expansion into the Middle East. The contract triggers a long planned capital investment in new manufacturing equipment and facilities in the USA which includes several new Haas CNC Machining Centers and Advanced Heat Treatment Facilities.
