The Secure Digital Voice Terminal (SDVT) is a four-wire non-secure/secure telephone set that transmits and receives digital voice and loop signaling information at 16 or 32 kb/s rates. The SDVT is a secure telephone that has embedded exportable encryption module capability that supports non-secure and secure (non-encrypted/encrytped) operations. The SDVT interfaces from up to 4 km away from the circuit switch to telegraph, facsimile, or digital voice by a 4-wire interface. The SDVT supports one active interface mode of operation at a time. The SDVT interfaces analog voice by the handset interface and to data devices by the RS-232 data port interface. The SDVT keyboard/keypad is used to enter address, precedance and other control information necessary for the SDVT user to establish a call.
Additional Information for Secure Digital Voice Terminal
Secure Digital Voice Terminals are a type of communication device that falls under the supply class Telephone And Telegraph Equipment in the supply group Communication, Detection, And Coherent Radiation Equipment. These terminals are designed to provide secure and encrypted voice communication, ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of the transmitted information.
Secure Digital Voice Terminals are commonly used in military, government, and other high-security environments where sensitive information needs to be communicated securely. These terminals employ advanced encryption algorithms and protocols to protect the voice data from unauthorized access or interception.
Some key features of Secure Digital Voice Terminals may include:
1. Encryption: These terminals use encryption techniques to encode voice data, making it unreadable to anyone without the proper decryption keys.
2. Authentication: Secure Digital Voice Terminals often incorporate authentication mechanisms to verify the identity of the users, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access the system.
3. Secure Key Management: These terminals have robust key management systems to securely generate, distribute, and store encryption keys, preventing unauthorized access to the keys.
4. Noise Reduction: Secure Digital Voice Terminals may include noise reduction technologies to enhance the clarity and quality of the transmitted voice, even in noisy environments.
5. Secure Network Connectivity: These terminals can connect to secure networks, such as Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), to ensure end-to-end encryption of voice communication.
Overall, Secure Digital Voice Terminals provide a secure and reliable means of voice communication in environments where confidentiality and integrity are of utmost importance.
