Spotlight Filter

Spotlight Filter is a feature in the Spotlight search functionality on macOS. It allows you to refine your search results by applying specific filters to narrow down the results based on different criteria.

With Spotlight Filter, you can search for specific types of files or content within files, such as documents, images, videos, emails, contacts, calendar events, and more. This can be useful when you're looking for a particular file or piece of information and want to quickly find it without sifting through numerous search results.

To use Spotlight Filter, simply open the Spotlight search bar by clicking on the magnifying glass icon in the top-right corner of your screen or by pressing Command + Spacebar. Then, enter your search query and press Enter. The search results will appear, and you can click on the "Show all in Finder" option to open a new Finder window with the search results.

In the Finder window, you'll see a list of search results on the left side. To apply a filter, click on the "Filter" button at the top-right corner of the window. This will reveal a dropdown menu with various filter options, such as Kind, Last Opened Date, Created Date, Modified Date, and more. You can select one or multiple filters to refine your search results.

For example, if you're looking for a specific document, you can select the "Kind" filter and choose "Documents" to only display files that are categorized as documents. Similarly, you can use other filters to narrow down your search based on specific criteria.

Spotlight Filter is a powerful tool that helps you quickly find the files or information you need on your macOS device. It saves you time and effort by eliminating irrelevant search results and providing more targeted results based on your specified filters.
