Y Valve
Item Name Code (INC) 16992
![]() |
A valve with one inlet and one outlet connection that provides unobstructed fluid flow. The flow is controlled by the action of a stem which lifts disk perpendicularly off center axis of its seat. The stem is at angle of less than 90 degrees (1.5708 radians) to parallel inlet and outlet flow. It may utilize a diaphragm as packing. Excludes VALVE, STOP-CHECK.
Additional Information for Y Valve
Y valves are a type of valve that is classified under the supply class Valves, Nonpowered in the supply group Valves. Y valves are designed with a Y-shaped body, which allows for the diversion or merging of fluid flow in a piping system.
These valves typically have three ports, with one inlet and two outlets. The inlet port is connected to the main supply line, while the two outlet ports can be connected to separate lines or equipment. By adjusting the position of the valve, the flow of fluid can be directed to either outlet port, or both ports simultaneously.
Y valves are commonly used in applications where the flow of fluid needs to be controlled or redirected. They are often found in plumbing systems, irrigation systems, and industrial processes. Y valves are available in various sizes and materials to suit different requirements and operating conditions.
When selecting a Y valve, it is important to consider factors such as the type of fluid being handled, the pressure and temperature conditions, and the desired flow rate. Proper installation and maintenance of Y valves are crucial to ensure optimal performance and prevent any leakage or malfunctioning.
