Dropping Pipet

A dropping pipet, also known as a dropper pipette or a Pasteur pipette, is a laboratory tool used to transfer small volumes of liquids. It consists of a long, thin glass or plastic tube with a tapered tip at one end and a bulb or teat at the other end. The tapered tip allows for precise control of the liquid being transferred, while the bulb or teat is squeezed to draw up or release the liquid.

Dropping pipets are commonly used in chemistry, biology, and other scientific disciplines for tasks such as adding reagents, making dilutions, or transferring small samples. They are particularly useful when working with small volumes of liquids, as they allow for accurate and controlled dispensing.

To use a dropping pipet, the bulb or teat is squeezed to create a vacuum, and then the tapered tip is placed into the liquid. When the pressure on the bulb is released, the liquid is drawn up into the pipet. By carefully controlling the pressure on the bulb, the liquid can be dispensed drop by drop.

It is important to note that dropping pipets are disposable and should not be reused to avoid cross-contamination between different liquids or samples.
