Sound Reproducing Stylus

A sound reproducing stylus, also known as a phonograph needle or cartridge, is a small, delicate component used in record players or turntables to play vinyl records. It is responsible for tracking the grooves on the record and converting the physical vibrations into electrical signals that can be amplified and played through speakers.

The stylus typically consists of a tiny diamond or other hard material mounted at the end of a cantilever or tonearm. As the record spins, the stylus is guided along the grooves, which contain the audio information in the form of microscopic bumps and valleys. The stylus's diamond tip or other hard material is designed to fit precisely into these grooves, allowing it to accurately trace the shape of the recorded sound waves.

As the stylus moves along the grooves, it vibrates in response to the variations in the groove's shape. These vibrations are then transmitted through the cantilever or tonearm to a cartridge, which contains a magnet and coils. The movement of the stylus generates a small electrical current in the coils, which is then amplified and converted into sound by the audio system.
