Overview
The Plate Carrier (PC) replaced the Scalable Plate Carrier (SPC) and is the USMC vest of record. The PC provides a solution to the two areas of concern with the SPC: shoulder comfort and cummerbund stability.
Features
The PC is comprised of a vest with removable soft armor panels that extend a minimum of one-half inch beyond the Enhanced Small Arms Plates Inserts (ESAPI). The PC accepts the ESAPIs and provides both direct and indirect fire protection. The total weight and associated thermal burden are minimized in the PC, thereby enhancing the individual Marine’s mobility and lethality.
Components
The PC is fielded as a complete system to include a user level repair kit. Individual Components are: Cummerbund Assembly, PC Front (without soft armor), PC Rear (without soft armor), 1.5 Inch Plastic Loop, Buckle Shoulder Strap, Yib-Yab Shoulder Strap, 1.5 Inch Side Release Buckles, 1.5 Inch Tension Locks, 1.5 Inch Metal Loops, 1 Inch Plastic Loop, Cummerbund Panel, Quick ReleasePull Cable, Cummerbund Adapter, PC Repair Kits, PC Spares Blocks, Side Plate Pockets, Inner Cummerbund, Removable Waist Belt, and Front and Rear Soft Armor Inserts.
