An instrument which shows the presence of an electric current and/or indicates the relative intensity thereof, but which is not calibrated in actual values. The instrument may or may not be connected into the circuit. The detection of the current is accomplished by measuring the mechanical motion produced by the electromagnetic or electrodynamic forces set up by the current.
