A light specifically designed to be permanently installed in aircraft for map reading or cockpit illumination. It may contain dimming features, switches, filters, and/or cables or coiled cables to permit portability within the length of the cable. If provided with cables or coiled cables, the mounting base must remain fixed to the aircraft and include a snap-in or similar locking device to permit detachment and attachment of the light.
