A single nonjacketed nonmetallic flexible conductor consisting of a core of transparent dielectric material surrounded by a cladding material of lower refractive index. The item may or may not have a protective coating (buffer). It is specifically designed to conduct light from one point or location to another, and is primarily intended for use in data or image transmission, control, communication and indicating applications.
