A special box made of cast metal, molded or shrinkable plastic which encases the electric connections of two or more electric cables, protects them against tensions and other excessive wear by means of mechanical attachment to the cable covering, and keeps moisture, gasses, and other environmental conditions away from the splicing by means of sealing it with a special casting compound or by heatshrinkage or bonding.
