A self-contained item with a knob or a key actuated pawl, designed to fasten panels, doors, and the like, to frames or adjoining surfaces. The pawl may be preset to accommodate frames or surfaces of a specific thickness, or may be adjustable to accommodate frames or surfaces of variable thicknesses.
