An apparatus in which steam and a cooling medium of water and/or air are directed through separate chambers and condensation is effected by abstracting the heat from the steam by conduction through metal. It is designed to provide for continuous condensation of steam and removal of subsequent noncondensable gases and condensate to support a partial vacuum. It may include air ejectors.
