NATO Supply Group (NSG) 42, also known as Federal Supply Group (FSG) 42 in the United States, is a standardized classification system for a wide range of equipment and materials used in:

• Firefighting: Tools and gear used to combat and control fires, ensuring firefighter safety and efficient fire suppression.
• Rescue: Equipment for saving lives in various emergency situations, including accidents, natural disasters, and hazardous material incidents.
• Safety: Protective gear and devices to safeguard personnel from workplace hazards and other dangers.
• Environmental Protection: Equipment and materials used to prevent, mitigate, and address environmental hazards, such as spills, contamination, and pollution.

What does it include?

NSG 42 is further broken down into five specific Federal Supply Classes (FSC):

• FSC 4210 - Firefighting Equipment: This includes fire extinguishers, hoses, pumps, hydrants, helmets, suits, and other tools used by firefighters.
• FSC 4220 - Marine Lifesaving and Diving Equipment: This category covers life vests, life rafts, diving suits, and other equipment used for water rescues and underwater operations.
• FSC 4230 - Decontaminating and Impregnating Equipment: This includes equipment and materials for cleaning up hazardous materials, decontaminating personnel and equipment, and protecting against various contaminants.
• FSC 4235 - Hazardous Material Spill Containment and Clean-up Equipment and Material: This category focuses on equipment and materials specifically designed to contain and clean up hazardous material spills.
• FSC 4240 - Safety and Rescue Equipment: This encompasses a broad range of safety gear, including fall protection equipment, respirators, first aid kits, and personal protective equipment (PPE) for various applications.
• FSC 4250 - Recycling and Reclamation Equipment: This category includes equipment used for processing and recovering materials for reuse, contributing to environmental sustainability.
