A Swiss Pattern file with straight parallel sides and edges, designed for use in a filing machine. It may be supported at one end only, by means of a shank or tang; at one end by means of a shank or tang and at the other end by means of an angular point fitting in a recess in the machine; at both ends by clamping on flattened ends; at both ends by means of holes through the flattened ends of the file.
