A rigid, metal, platelike item with an edgewise projection containing one or more openings. The opening is usually round or elliptical in shape. It is normally welded, bolted, or otherwise fixed to a structure. It is used as a catch or point of attachment for other items such as hooks, rope, and the like. Excludes, STAPLE, HASP; STRIKE, CATCH; and BRACKET, EYE, NON ROTATING SHAFT.
