An item designed to protect a protruding and/or vulnerable part of an aircraft, such as angle of attack probe, transmitter vane, aileron trailing edge, compartment window, and the like. It prevents physical damage to the part and possible injury to personnel while the aircraft is on the ground. It is usually red in color and has a warning streamer attached to indicate removal before flight.
