TM 9-2815-210-34-2-2 FRAME 23 1. 2. 3. NOTE If no exhaust valve seat inserts (1) were taken out, go to para 4-19c(2). Two sizes of exhaust valve seat inserts (1) are used in cylinder heads (2). Cylinder head can use a combination of exhaust valve seat insert sizes. Measure each exhaust valve seat counterbore (3) to tell whether to put in a standard size or oversize exhaust valve seat insert. Readings must be within limits given in table 4-49. The letter T shows a tight fit. If readings are not within given limits, throw away part and get a new one. Measure and note inside diameter of three exhaust valve seat counterbores (3). If diameter is 1.8080 to 1.8095 inches, this is a standard size exhaust valve seat counterbore. If diameter is 1.8180 to 1.8195 inches, this is a 0.0100- inch oversize exhaust valve seat counterbore. NOTE Used exhaust valve seat inserts, (1) that were not worn were tagged so they can be put back in the same place. Because machine shop may have machined some standard size exhaust valve seat counterbores (3) into oversize exhaust valve seat counterbores, some exhaust valve seat inserts may be too small. Measure and note outside diameter of each exhaust valve seat insert (1) to be put in. Standard size exhaust valve seat inserts go in standard size exhaust valve seat counterbores (3). For 0.0100-inch oversize exhaust valve seat counterbores, use 0.0100-inch oversize exhaust valve seat inserts. Refer to table 4-49. for exhaust valve seat insert sizes. Measure fit of each exhaust valve seat insert (1) in its exhaust valve seat counterbore (3). GO TO FRAME 24 4-235
