Early model oil pressure regulator valve plunger spring (1) is no longer available. If this spring is damaged, you will have to put in late model oil pressure regulator valve plunger spring, which is longer. To make room for longer spring, you must also throw away early model plug (2) and put in longer late model plug (3). Measure free length of oil pressure regulator valve plunger spring (1). Using spring tester, measure load needed to squeeze spring (1) down to 1.750 inches. Using spring tester, measure solid height of spring (1). GO TO FRAME 5 Table 4-44.
