TM 9-2815-210-34-2-2 4-13 OIL PUMP IDLER GEAR. a. Cleaning For cleaning procedures for idler gear, refer to para 4-3. For cleaning procedures for bearing, refer to TM 9-214. b. Inspection and Repair. FRAME 1 1. Check that idler gear (1) has no damaged teeth or scored bearing surfaces (2). Take off minor burrs from gear teeth with fine mill file. If damaged beyond repair, get a new idler gear. 2. Check that idler gear bearing bore (2) is not worn. If worn beyond limits given in table 4-4, get a new idler gear. 3. Check that bearing (3) is not damaged. Refer to TM 9-214 and table 4-4. If bearing is damaged or worn, get a new one. 4. Check that retainer ring (4) is not damaged or bent. If part is damaged or bent, get a new one. 4-142
