Smooth out any chips, scratches, or burrs on shafts and gear with a honing stone. Weld cracks and small holes in carrier casting. Refer to TM 9-237. Drill out any bolts that are broken off in tapped holes. Drill out threaded holes that are stripped or out-of-round to the next larger size and retap them. When putting parts together, use a bolt the size of the new tapped hole. 2-363
