Refer to Army POL (WP 0001 00) for information concerning storage, use, and disposal of these liquids. Failure to do so may result in damage to environment and health of personnel. • Do not drain oil when engine is hot. Hot oil may cause injury to personnel. NOTE Use a drain pan to capture any draining oil. Dispose of fluids in accordance with local policy and ordinances. Ensure all spills are cleaned up. DRAINING OIL 1. Remove two drainplugs (3) and seals (2) from engine oil pan (1), and allow oil to completely drain. Discard seals (2). 2. Install two new seals (2) and drainplugs (3) to engine oil pan (1). OIL FILTER REMOVAL 1. Remove pipe plug (6) from filter housing (7) and allow oil to drain. NOTE Both engine oil filter bodies are removed the same way. 2. Loosen center post (4) and remove body (5) and gasket (8) from filter housing (7). Discard gasket (8). 3. Install pipe plug (6) on filter housing (7). BODY DISASSEMBLY NOTE Both engine oil filter bodies are disassembled the same. 1. Remove cotter pin (10), filter element (9), cup (13), and spring (12) from center post (4) and body (5). Discard cotter pin (10) and filter element (9). 2. Remove center post (4) and gasket (11) from body (5). Discard gasket (11).
