VTM CONNECTIONS AND CHECKOUT (Contd) G01 TK MODE 3 1 • Proceed to step 3. • If only a portion of .8.8.8.8 or four dashes is displayed, a display module may be burned out. Refer to TM 9-4910-571-12&P. • Repeat step 2. NO YES NO YES • No power to VTM, connect to a known good battery to see if problem is vehicle batteries or VTM. NO YES • Does display light up? • PULL OFF the power switch. • Check W5 connections for reversed polarity. • Check, clean, and oil battery connections and interconnecting battery cables. • PUSH ON the power switch. • Does the VTM display .8.8.8.8 and then change to four dashes? NO YES • PULL OFF the power switch. • Connect red clip lead of W5 to a known good battery. • Connect negative terminal of good battery to ground on vehicle under test. • PUSH ON power switch. • Does VTM display .8.8.8.8 and then change to four dashes? • Proceed to TM 9-4910-571-12&P for fault isolation of cable W5. • If cable is bad, replace cable. • If cable is good, STE/ICE-R is bad. Replace. • Check vehicle electrolyte level. • Clean vehicle battery terminals. • Charge vehicle batteries. • Return to step 1.
