Take out shims at point (3) to keep 0.007 to 0.014-inch backlash. For a short toe contact, pattern B, take out shim at point (2) and add shim at point (1). Add shim at point (3) to keep 0.007 to 0.014-inch backlash. For a low narrow contact, pattern C, add shim at point (3). Take shim away from point (2) and add shim at point (3). Take shim away from point (2) and add shim at point (1) to keep 0.007 to 0.014-inch backlash. For a high narrow contact, pattern D, take away shim at point (1) and add shim at point (2) to keep 0.007 to 0.014-inch backlash. GO BACK TO FRAME 17 10-86
