Tolerance Permissible deviation or variation from exact dimensions or standards. Torque A force or combination of forces that produces or tends to produce a twisting or rotating motion. The amount of force applies to fasteners as prescribed by tightening instructions. Torque Converter The torque converter (also called converter) consists mainly of a turbine, a pump, and a stator. The converter transmits power from the engine to the transmission gearing. The torque converter serves as both a torque multiplier and a f uid coupling. U Unserviceable Parts, components, assemblies, etc., that are worn, damaged, mutilated, etc., to the extent that they cannot be used for their intended purposes. V Visual Method of inspecting parts using unaided human eye. W Wear A loss of material from contacting surfaces. Normal wear is the slow loss of material from contacting surfaces.
