2. Disconnect two leads (Figure 2, Item 5) from overheat thermostat (Figure 2, Item 4). 3. Remove nut (Figure 2, Item 6), lockwasher (Figure 2, Item 7), and retainer (Figure 2, Item 8) from coolant heater. Discard lockwasher. 4. Remove overheat thermostat (Figure 2, Item 4), packing (Figure 2, Item 10), and washer (Figure 2, Item 9) from coolant heater. Discard packing. 5. Use multi-meter to check resistance through overheat thermostat. 6. Multi-meter should read 0 ohms. If reading is infinity, replace overheat thermostat. Figure 2. Overheat Thermostat – Removal.
