TM 9-2350-277-20-5 INSPECT POWER PLANT SLING — Continued 0673 00 7. Inspect structural members for following: a. If welded joints are cracked in excess of 1/2 inch (13 mm) or 25% of length of weld in gusset (1) to cross beam (2) area, remove sling from service. NOTE Use straight edge to measure cross beam bend. b. If cross beam is bent or twisted in excess of 1/4 inch (6 mm) at ends of cross beam, remove sling from service. Do not attempt to straighten a bent cross beam. c. If lifting hole (3) is elongated in excess of 1/8 inch (3 mm), remove sling from service. 8. Complete required forms. PREOPERATIVE CHECK WARNING Damaged lifting slings can fall with load. Personnel can be injured or killed. Inspect all slings. Do not use damaged slings. NOTE Chains are inspected on a link by link basis with the chain slack. 1. Do Step 2a and Steps 3 - 8 of Periodic Check. END OF TASK 0673 00-8
