TM 9-2350-277-20-5 INSPECT POWER PLANT SLING — Continued 0673 00 NOTE Dimension “L” or “reach” is the distance between the bearing point of hook to bearing point on coupling link while under a light load. If identification tag attached to chain leg does not contain actual “reach” dimension, then dimension “L” must be calibrated prior to use for each chain leg and entered into maintenance record. At each inspection, chain length must be compared with initial inspection. 2. Check chains (1) for excessive stretch. a. If any link (2) does not hinge freely with adjoining link, remove sling from service. b. If length (L) between bearing point of hook (1) and bearing point of coupling link (2) while under light load is greater than the maximum in Table I, remove sling from service. 0673 00-4
