TM 9-2350-277-20-3 REPLACE PROPELLER SHAFT AND UNIVERSAL JOINTS — Continued 0405 00 INSTALLATION NOTE After installation of one propeller shaft, transmission will not rotate. A helper is required (with tanker bar) to move carrier to align holes of universal joint with yoke for installation of propeller shaft on the other side. NOTE If not replacing permanently lubricated universal joints, install two lube fittings in each universal joint. NOTE Screws and washers must be clean, dry, and free of lubricant and paint. Washers must be 5/32 inch (4 mm) hardened flat steel only. 1. Install yoke (1) in final drive (2). NOTE When using torque wrench with torque wrench adapter, torque value mustbe corrected. See (WP 0155 00) for procedure for converting torque value. 2. Position propeller shaft (3) in vise and install universal joints (4) with eight new screws (5) and new washers (6). TIGHTEN SCREWS TO 86-94 LB-FT (117-127 N m) TORQUE. LOOSEN SCREWS, THEN TIGHTEN AGAIN TO 86-94 LB-FT (117-127 N m) TORQUE. 3. Position propeller shaft (3) with universal joints and secure to transmission and final drive (2) with eight new screws (7) and new washers (8). TIGHTEN SCREWS TO 86-94 LB-FT (117-127 N m) TORQUE. LOOSEN SCREWS, THEN TIGHTEN AGAIN TO 86-94 LB-FT (117-127 N m) TORQUE. 0405 00-3
