Machine stitch a rectangular pattern 1/8 inch (3 cm) in from the edges, a set of stitches 1/8 inch (3 mm) in from end stitchings, and diagonal stitches from corner to corner. 21. Attach all leather reinforcements. Use the same stitching method used for webbing. 22. Install end clips. Insert strap into ball-type end clip. Flatten clip with hammer. 23. Install grommets per FM 10-16. Holes punched in the material to receive grommets shall be smaller than outside diameter of grommet barrel. Clinch grommets firmly without cutting material. 0071 00-7
