TM 9-2350-261-20-1 200 AMP OVER VOLTAGE TROUBLESHOOTING — Continued 0023 00 Y 1. Remove six screws (1) and cover (2) from voltage regulator (3). 2. Connect multimeter to clean unpainted surface and vehicle ground. 3. Does multimeter read 0.5 ohms or less? YN 1. Ensure lockwashers (4) and screws (5) are tight on plate (6). 2. Tighten nut (7) securing ground lead (8) to regulator (3). 3. Install cover and screws on voltage regulator. 4. Repeat charging system operational check (WP 0020 00). 2Y 1. Install cover and six screws on voltage regulator. 2. Connect alternator test kit (WP 0019 00). 3. Check batteries to make sure they are fully charged. See TM 9-6140-200-14. 4. Turn off all electrical equipment/loads. C A U T I O N If voltage climbs above 33 or more volts, shut off engine. Alternator could be damaged. 5. Adjust rheostat to maximum resistance. 6. Connect diagnostic test harness leads 1 and 4 together. 7. Start engine and run at 800 RPM and lower resistance. 8. Does voltage rise above battery voltage (test harness lead 3 to ground) to approximately 28 volts? 2YN 1. Remove alternator test kit (WP 0019 00). 2. Replace generator (200 amp) (WP 0228 00). 3. Repeat charging system operational check (WP 0020 00). 3Y 1. Remove alternator test kit (WP 0019 00). 2. Replace voltage regulator (200 amp) (WP 0230 00). 3. Repeat charging system operational check (WP 0020 00). 0023 00-2
