TM 9-2350-247-20-3 REPLACE WINCH (M548A1) — Continued 0407 00 WARNING Winch weighs more than 400 lbs (181 kg). Use a lifting device with at least 500 lb (227 kg) capacity to mount winch to prevent personnel injury or property damage. 7. Use helper and lifting device to mount winch on carrier. Make sure you align rear mounting holes in winch with mounting holes in carrier bulkhead. If holes do not align, turn nuts (5) on tie rod (6) until holes align. Make sure key (4) mates with splines in transfer gear case. 8. Install two plates (1) and four screws (2) inside power plant compartment. Tighten screws to 90 to 110 lb-ft (122-149 N•m) torque. Bend top corners of plates across flats on screw holes. 9. Place support (3) on winch. Install one screw (4) in each end of support. Tighten screws to 305 to 325 lb-ft (414-441 N•m) torque. 10. Place guard (5) over safety brake housing and on support (3). Install two washers (6) and two screws (7). Do not tighten screws. 11. Place one plate (8) near end of support (3). Install two screws (9). Install plate and screws on other end of support. Tighten screws to 90 to 110 lb-ft (122-149 N•m) torque. Bend corners of plates across flats on screw heads. 0407 00-6
