TM 9-2350-247-20-2 REPLACE STEERING CONTROL/LINKAGE (M548A1) — Continued 0366 00 NOTE Add washers, as needed, to front screw only on bearing to make sure screw does not extend beyond top of mounting bracket. 36. Install two screws (1), four washers (2), and two new lock nuts (3) to secure quadrant bracket (4) to driver’s floor. Do not tighten nuts. 37. Adjust quadrant bracket (4) as follows: a. Place left steering lever (5) and right steering lever (6) fully forward. Install shims (7) under front of quadrant bracket (4) so steering levers clear instrument panel by 2-1/8 to 2-3/8 in (5 to 6 cm) at point of nearest approach. b. Pull left steering lever (5) and right steering lever (6) to last notch in steering lever quadrant (8) and steering lever quadrant (9). Install shims (7) under rear of quadrant bracket (4) so steering levers clear driver’s seat. c. Tighten two screws (1) and lock nuts (3). 38. Place four connecting links (10) on right control shaft (11) and left control shaft (12). Secure with two clevis pins (13) and new cotter pins (14). 39. Place shaft flexible seal (15) on right control shaft (11). Push seal tight against bulkhead. Place seal clamp (16) 1/8 to 3/ 8 in (3 to 10 mm) from right end of flexible seal. Tighten seal clamp until flexible seal is snug on shaft. FOLLOW-THROUGH STEPS 1. Install throttle floor plate (WP 0394 00). 2. Lower right and left center seat floor plates (WP 0394 00). 3. Lower center seat (see your -10). 4. Adjust steering controls (WP 0367 00). 5. Connect battery negative lead (WP 0292 00). 6. Start engine (see your -10). Check steering controls for proper operation. END OF TASK 0366 00-12
