TM 9-2350-247-20-2 REPLACE CARRIER BATTERIES (M548A3) — Continued 0293 00 WARNING Battery is heavy and can cause back injury if handled improperly. Be sure to have helper assist you to remove and replace battery. Battery weighs about 75 lb (34 kg). 3. To remove batteries from either driver’s or passenger’s side of carrier: a. Remove center bolt (11), washer (12), and center clamp (13). b. Remove two end nuts (14), washers (15), and retainers (16) from T-Bolts (17). c. Remove batteries from carrier. Have helper assist. CLEANING 1. Before cleaning batteries, tighten battery vent plugs. 2. Clean batteries and terminals. a. Clean all parts removed from battery well with a sodium bicarbonate and water solution. Rinse and flush with clean water. Dry with a clean cloth. INSPECTION-ACCEPTANCE AND REJECTION CRITERIA 1. Inspect the following parts for cracks, corrosion, distortion, or hardening. Replace all parts that are corroded or damaged: a. Leads, clamps, and mountings b. Battery terminals, cases, and compartment seals 0293 00-4
