TM 9-2350-247-20-2 REPLACE AIR BOX HEATER ELECTRODE (M548A3) — Continued 0188 00 REMOVAL 1. Disconnect ignition cable (1) from air box heater (2). 2. Remove fuel tube (3) at elbow (4) and tube elbow (5). 3. Remove air hose (6) from fitting (7). NOTE Screw (8) is longer than screws (11). 4. Remove screw (8), copper washer (9), ground lead of wiring harness (10) and one ear of air box heater (2) from engine. Discard washer. 5. Remove two screws (11), copper washers (12), air box heater (2), gasket (13), and preformed packing (14) from engine. Discard washers, gasket, and preformed packing. CLEANING 1. Inspect air box heater assembly (1) for cracks, damaged threads, and damaged gasket surfaces. 2. Inspect end of ignition cable for pitting, corrosion, and cracked insulator. 3. Inspect fuel nozzle for clogging, damaged seating surfaces, and damaged threads. To check heater nozzle when assembly is installed in the engine, remove fuel supply hose at fuel solenoid valve (WP 0187 00). When air box heater system is activated, a slight suction can be felt on the finger at the open fitting. 0188 00-2
