TM 9-2350-247-20-2 REPLACE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY FUEL FILTERS/ELEMENTS (M548A3) — Continued 0178 00 7. Install elbow (1) on secondary filter cover (2). Connect secondary filter-to-fuel injector hose (3) to elbow (1). 8. Connect primary filter-to-engine fuel pump hose (4) to elbow (5) on top of filter. 9. Connect separator tank-to-primary filter hose (6) to elbow (7) on top of filter. 10. Install pipe plug (8) and pipe plug (9) in primary filter cover (10), pipe plug (11), and pipe plug (12) in secondary filter cover (2). NOTE Before installing new filter element, you must add fuel to filter housing to prevent a vapor lock in the fuel system. 11. Assemble seal retainer (13), seal (14), spring retainers (15), spring (16), new gaskets (17), new secondary element (18), and new primary element (19) in primary filter shell (20) and secondary filter shell (21). Secure to secondary filter cover (2) and primary filter cover (10) with two screws (22) and washers (23). 12. Install drain valve (24) in primary filter (20), if removed. 13. Install drain hose (25) on bottom elbow and hose assembly (26) of secondary filter (21) and elbow (27). FOLLOW-THROUGH STEPS 1. Connect both battery negative leads (WP 0292 00). 2.
