TM 9-2920-258-30&P 3-6 3-7 REPAIRING DAMAGED THREADS When determined feasible by inspection, damaged threads should be repaired by retapping, use of a thread die or by “chasing” on a lathe. Tapped holes for screw thread inserts that have mutilated threads may be repaired by: a Drilling and tapping hole oversize and installing large inserts. b Filling tapped hole by welding and redrilling and tapping hole to original size. ALTERNATOR CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS a Clean exterior surfaces of the Alternator as follows: WARNING Dry cleaning solvent P-D-680 is toxic and flammable. Wear protective goggles, gloves and apron, and use only in a well ventilated area. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, and clothes and don’t breathe vapors. Do not use near open flame or excessive heat. The flash point is 100-138°F (38-59°C). If you become dizzy while using cleaning solvent, get fresh air immediately and get medical aid. If contact with eyes is made, wash your eyes with water and get medical aid immediately. WARNING Air pressure in excess of 10 psi (69 kPa) can injure personnel. pressurized air at yourself or others.
