*C2 CHAP 5, SEC V FLANGE ADAPTER REBUILD PAR 86-91 (4) Install thrust washer 100 and front- washer assembly 81. Install retaining ring 80. (5) Install thrust washer 103 into the stator assembly. (6) Install thrust bearing assembly 102 onto freewheel race 101, using oil-soluble grease to retain it. (7) Using a heavy oil-soluble grease to retain them, position the 12 bearings and springs in the 12 stator cam pockets. Fig. 148 shows the location of the bearings and springs in respect to the stator assembly. Install a spring into the deep end of the cam pocket. Place a bearing in the shallow end of the cam pocket beside the spring. Install remaining 11 bearings and springs in the same manner. (8) Install freewheel race 101 (fig. 373, fold-out 2) with bearing 102 into the stator as- sembly. Figure 148. Torque converter stator Section V. FLANGE ADAPTER ASSEMBLY—REBUILD 87. ASSEMBLY a. If the oil seal was removed from the flange adapter, install a new replacement using oil seal replacer 8351210 (fig. 149). b.
