Installation INITIAL SETUP Artillery and turret mechanic’s tool kit (SC 5180-95-CL-A12) Artillery field maintenance tool kit (SC 4933-95-CL-A06) Key washers (2) (item 34, Appx E) References TM 9-214 Bearing puller (item 14, Appx F) Materials/Parts Grease (item 21, Appx B) Equipment Condition Mount and howitzer with trunnion bracket removed (para 5-1) Bearing retaining plate removed (para 11-2) a. b. c. Removal 1 Disengage tabs of key washer (1) from slot of round nut (2). 2 Remove round nut (2), key washer (1), spacer (3), and flat washer (4). Discard key washer. 3 Using a bearing puller, remove roller bearing (5), flat washer (6), and spacer (7). 4 Repeat steps 1 through 3 for second roller bearing (5). Inspection For proper cleaning and inspection procedures for roller bearings (5), refer to TM 9-214. Installation 1 Pack roller bearing (5) with grease. 2 Install spacer (7), flat washer (6), roller bearing (5), flat washer (4), and spacer (3). 3 Install new key washer (1) and round nut (2). Bend tabs of key washer to secure round nut. 4 Lubricate roller bearing (5) until grease appears through sides of roller bearing. 5 Repeat steps 1 through 4 for second roller bearing (5). 14-2 Change 2
