Assembly INITIAL SETUP Tools Preformed packings (4) (item 51, Appx E) Artillery and turret mechanic’s tool kit Preformed packings (2) (item 163, Appx E) (SC 5180-95-CL-A12) Materials/Parts Equipment Condition Lockwashers (8) (item 84, Appx E) Safety relief elevation valve assembly removed (para Lockwashers (4) (item 108, Appx E) 6-11) a. Disassembly 1 2 3 Wear safety glasses and steel-tipped shoes to avoid possible injury while handling equipment. NOTE There are three different valve assemblies identifiable by number stamped in body. Valve assem- blies with part numbers 8744652 and 1178342 are not repaired, but instead are replaced by valve assembly 11784023. Remove four cap screws (1) and four Iockwashers (2) from safety relief elevation valve assembly (3). Sepa- rate valve assembly (4), manifold assembly (5), and bracket assembly (6). Discard Iockwashers. Remove two preformed packings (7) from face of bracket assembly (6) and discard. Remove two preformed packings (8) from face of manifold assembly (5) and discard. 6-68
