TM 9-2350-311-34-2 6-9 ACCUMULATOR ASSEMBLY (SECONDARY) This task covers: a. Disassembly c. Assembly b. Inspection Tools Artillery and turret mechanic’s tool kit (SC 5180-95-CL-A12) Artillery field maintenance tool kit (SC 4933-95-CL-A06) Materials/Parts Hydraulic fluid (item 22, Appx B) Hydraulic parts kit (item 138, Appx E) Equipment Condition Accumulator assembly (secondary) removed (TM 9-2350-311-20-2) a. Disassembly 1 Remove two machine screws (1) and guard (2). Secondary accumulator assembly contains high pressure nitrogen. Do not disassemble until all pressure is relieved to avoid injury from trapped high pressure. 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Remove air valve cap (3) and loosen check valve nut (4) on air relay valve (5) to release nitrogen precharge pressure from secondary accumulator assembly (6). Remove air relay valve (5). Remove three cap screws (7) and valve stop plate (8). Push accumulator head (9) into cylinder (10) about 1 inch (2.54 cm) and remove three segments of accumu- lator ring (11). Remove accumulator head (9) from cylinder (10). Remove packing retainer (12) and preformed packing (13) from accumulator head (9) and discard. Remove three cap screws (14) and valve stop plate (15). Push chassis base (16) into cylinder (10) about 1 inch (2.54 cm) and remove three segments of accumulator ring (17). 10 Remove chassis base (16) from cylinder (10). 6-38
