Assembly INITIAL SETUP Tools Artillery and turret mechanic’ s tool kit (SC 5180-95-CL-A12) Artillery field maintenance tool kit (SC 4933-95-CL-A06) Materials/Parts Lockwire (item 35, Appx E) M109A5 Equipment Condition Carrier assembly removed and disassembled (TM 9-2350-311-20-2) Lockwashers (3) (item 87, Appx E) M109A2/M109A3/M109A4 a. Disassembly NOTE Lockwire is used to secure access cover to carrier housing of M284 cannon. Lockwasher is used to secure access cover to carrier housing of M185 cannon. 1 Remove three cap screws (1), lockwire (2) or three lockwashers (3), and access cover (4) from carrier hous- ing (5). Discard lockwashers and lockwire. NOTE Headless shoulder pin is staked in two places 180° apart. Do not remove unless damaged. 2 Remove headless shoulder pin (6) and helical compression spring (7) Change 2 5-43
