VISUAL INSPECTION 1 Check that all screws and lockwashers are present and tight. 2 Check that mounting surfaces are clean and free of burrs. 3 Check that M117/M117A2 panoramic telescope is free of dirt, corrosion, and foreign matter. 4 Check that paint is not chipped. 5 Check that all parts are present and free of dam- age. c. COLLIMATION 1 Set azimuth fixture ring (1) to zero. 2 Set gunner’s aid counter (2) to 00-00 detent. 3 Rotate reset counter knob (3) until reset counter (4) registers 3200. 4 Sight through M117/M117A2 panoramic telescope eyepiece (5) and turn azimuth knob (6) and eleva- tion knob (7) until M117/M117A2 panoramic tele- scope reticle is in coincidence with reticle of collimating projector (8). 5 Check that azimuth counter (9) registers 3200. If not, proceed as follows: a. Remove cap and insert screwdriver into slot- ted shaft located below azimuth knob (6). b. Push in and rotate screwdriver until azimuth counter (9) registers 3200. 5-51
