STARTING SYSTEM OPERATION The starting system is identical for both vehicles covered in this manual, and consists of the following components and circuits: 0 A ROTARY SWITCH - When in START position, provides battery power through neutral start switch to the starter solenoid circuit 14. 0 B NEUTRAL STARTER SWITCH - When transmission shift lever is in P (Park) or N (neutral) position, this switch closes allowing battery power to reach the starter solenoid. 0 C PROTECTIVE CONTROL BOX - Acts as a link between body harness and engine harness. 0 xl STARTER SOLENOID - A magnetic relay that transmits 24-volt battery power to the starter motor. 0 E STARTER MOTOR - Cranks the engine for starting, and is supplied 24-volt battery power through circuit 6A. l-28
