TM 9-2320-280-20-2 1. Disconnect two power steering lines (4) from steering gear (10). 2. Turn steering wheel left and right several times to bleed off power steering fluid. 3. Remove intermediate shaft locknut (1), washer (2), capscrew (5), and washer (2) and disconnect intermediate shaft (3) from steering gear (10). Discard locknut (1). 4. Remove nut (14) and lockwasher (13) from pitman arm (12). Discard lockwasher (13). 5. Remove pitman arm (12) from shaft (11). 6. Remove three capscrews (8), lockwashers (7), washers (6), and steering gear (10) from frame (9). Discard lockwashers (7). 8-21. STEERING GEAR REPLACEMENT This task covers: a. Removal b. Removal NOTE • Make sure front wheels are in the straight ahead position. • Have drainage container ready to catch fluid.
