WARNING All personnel should be familiar with and heed all safety warnings in the Warning Summary, page a, prior to performing any installation, removal, or maintenance for the Air Conditioning Kit. Failure to comply may result in injury or death to personnel and/or damage to equipment. Prior to beginning any work on the Air Conditioning Kit: 1. Disconnect batteries 2. Apply parking brake 3. Chock wheels 4. Remove rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces, and any other jewelry. Failure to comply may result in serious injury or death to personnel. CAUTION Refer to Repair Parts List (RPL), Appendix C, prior to beginning any installation steps for correct parts and hardware identification. Failure to comply could result in damage to equipment. Air conditioner current draw is approximately 20 amps. At minimum, a 100 amp alternator is required for vehicles with an air conditioner and communications equipment. Verify the alternator has a rating of 100 amps or higher. Upgrade alternator as necessary. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment. NOTE If alternator will be upgraded to allow for air conditioning installation, the following tasks can be performed concurrently: 1. Removal and replacement of belts for alternator and A/C compressor. 2. Disconnect/reconnect battery. 3. Route and attach power cable from alternator to battery compartment. 4. Checking power steering, water pump, and crankshaft pulleys for wear and replacing if needed. Uneven wear will prevent proper belt tensioning. The Air Conditioning Kits are designed to fit several configurations. Not all parts included in the kits will be used on all applications, and some installations will require modification to ensure fit.
