The JAGIC executes the call for DCA mission differently depending on whether a threat track is established or not. The procedure discussed in paragraphs A-38 through A-43 is used when division assets identify a threat aircraft operating in the division area of operations that is below the CA, but division assets either do not have the assets to readily detect, track, identify, and engage it, or division assets do not have the authority to engage it under the rules of engagement or weapons control status. The procedure discussed in paragraphs A-44 through A-45 is used when divisions do have the assets and the authority to readily detect, track, identify, and engage an enemy threat, or can request a higher echelon to engage it.
