M1089 LOWER CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT) WARNING • Stripper bolt, spring retainers, tube stop, spring, and linear valve will become very hot when applying heat to linear valve. Do not touch these parts with bare hands, or allow body to come in contact with them. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel. • Use care when removing springs. Springs are under tension and can act as projectiles when being removed. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel. CAUTION • Do not overheat valve. If linear valve begins to discolor, remove heat source. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment. • Position linear valve in a vise equipped with vise jaw caps when removing stripper bolt. Failure to comply may result in injury to personnel. (26) Place linear valve (38) in vise. (27) Compress spring (39). (28) Apply heat to linear valve (38) at threads of stripper bolt (34). (29) Remove stripper bolt (34), two spring retainers (40), spring (39), and tube stop (41) from linear valve (38).
