TM 9-2320-366-34-3 16-81. M1089 30K WINCH COUNTERBALANCE/CARTRIDGE/SOLENOID REPLACEMENT (CONT) e. Counterbalance Valve Removal. CAUTION Cap or plug hydraulic hoses and fittings to prevent contamination of hydraulic system. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment. NOTE Tag hydraulic hoses and connection points prior to disconnecting. (1) Disconnect four hydraulic hoses (1) from counterbalance valve (2). (2) Remove four screws (3) and counterbalance valve (2) from winch drive motor assembly (4). (3) Remove two preformed packings (5 and 6) from counterbalance valve (2). Discard preformed packings. (4) Place counterbalance valve (1) in vise. (5) Remove valve plug (7) from counterbalance valve (1). (6) Remove preformed packing (8) from valve plug (7). Discard preformed packing. (7) Remove 90-degree fitting (9) from counterbalance valve (1). (8) Remove preformed packing (10) from 90-degree fitting (9). Discard preformed packing. 16-492
