TM 9-2320-366-34-3 16-59. M1089 EIGHT-BANK VALVE ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT/REPAIR (CONT) CAUTION Lever cap and carrier nut are a matched set and must be kept together. Failure to comply may result in damage to equipment. (20) Remove bolt (29) and washer (30) from lever cap (31). Discard washer. (21) Remove carrier nut (32) from lever cap (31). (22) Remove preformed packing (33) from carrier nut (32). Discard preformed packing. (23) Match mark pinion seal (23) to lever cap (31). (24) Remove pinion seal (23) from lever cap (31). (25) Remove two backup rings (34) and quad rings (35) from pinion seal (23). Discard backup rings and quad rings. (26) Match mark lever cap (31) to valve body (3). (27) Remove four screws (36), lever cap (31), and preformed packing (37) from top directional valve body (3). Discard preformed packing. (28) Match mark end cap (38) to top directional valve body (3). (29) Remove four screws (39), end cap (38), and preformed packing (40) from top directional valve body (3). Discard preformed packing. (30) Remove spool (41) from top directional valve body (3). (31) Perform steps (16) through (30) on remaining three top directional valve bodies. 16-316
